A collection of my thoughts, perspectives, and lessons learned as a wife of 1 and a mother of 3.   I am Melissa Amaya of Long Island, New York.  Since having my first child in 2006, I began writing (to myself, mainly) mini-articles that I entitled, “Lessons in Motherhood.’  That has morphed into Deep Waters and a Bubbling Brook, inspired by Proverbs 18:4;  “The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.”

I am at times too logical, forever over-analyzing, and often completely random.  I am stubborn and opinionated, and always enjoy a good debate.  A veracious reader, I consume books on whatever topic is my interest at the moment.   I am an expert on my own opinion.

This is largely a blog to myself, for myself, but you are welcome to read along.  I am hopeful that through my own faults, blemishes and, at times, down right stupidity, others may learn, and at the very least be entertained.  I like to think of myself as witty, but that may simply be my delusion of grandeur.

There are 3 main reasons why I’ve decided to join the world of blogs.

1. Writing is the best way I know to think through and analyze situations (did I mention I over analyze?).  I am a journal person, but can never seem to find things these days, so keeping track of a journal is out of the question.  The computer is rather difficult to lose, so internet journaling seems safe.

2.  I love the idea of having a written record of life as my children grow up.  I’ll be able to look back and remember some fun times, frustrating times, lessons learned, and cute things said or done.

3.  There are a number of blogs that I regularly follow.  I love having a window into the life of some rather interesting folks.  It’s just plain fun!

So, here you will find  my reflections on life as a redeemed sinner, saved by grace, and daily living in that grace as I seek to humbly serve my family.

Thank you for stopping by.  I would love to hear from you, so please drop a line.
